Join us for Yoga Nidra at the Red Barn as part of our Mental Health Awareness Month programming!
Yoga nidra, or psychic sleep, is a deep relaxation technique and a form of meditation. The aim of Yoga Nidra is to experience the state between sleeping and waking. The practitioner lies in a comfortable position, often wrapped in a blanket with eyes closed and is guided into a deep state of conscious awareness sleep.
Yoga Nidra helps regulate the autonomic nervous system, regulating the heartbeat, breathing, digestion and blood flow. It helps balance the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, benefiting immunity, digestion and stress management. It also activates the pineal gland, releasing the hormone melatonin, which acts as a powerful antioxidant, aids immune function, manages blood pressure, cortisol levels and promotes restful sleep.
Proceeds from this event will be donated to the Step Forward Health Society.
